Nutrivise is an innovative serious game that combines playful learning and strategic thinking to teach young people about the importance of healthy eating. Developed by Fruity Fun Labs, the game is aimed at secondary school students aged 13 to 16 and serves as an ideal supplement to the subject of "health and nutrition." The aim is to teach players essential knowledge about nutrients, balanced meals, and healthy eating habits in an entertaining way.

My Responsibility:
In this project, I focused on content design, level design, and balancing. My goal was to develop a motivating core gameplay loop that maintained high student engagement throughout the experience. I designed a progression system where 'Personas' acted as levels, increasing in challenge and complexity to match the players' growing skills. As part of a cross-functional team, I worked closely with our artists to ensure that the educational content and the visual experience complemented each other perfectly.

The Challenge:
Serious Games carry a unique educational mission: the learning effect only unfolds if the game remains fun and accessible. We faced a significant hurdle with our database of over 200 food items. The high complexity of the nutritional values created a massive amount of data, making balancing difficult and increasing the risk of information overload for the players.

The Solution:
To tackle this, I conducted extensive research and validated the concept through paper prototyping and early playtests. The results were clear: to keep the game intuitive, we needed to reduce the nutritional information shown on the cards. By distilling the data down to its essential components, I eliminated confusion and ensured a balanced, error-free gameplay experience that stayed true to its educational goals without overwhelming the player.
